Massive Gold in Madhya Pradesh: Scientists confirm, it's beneath Jabalpur

Large reserves of gold, copper and other metals were confirmed by geologists in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh covering an area of 100 hectares, and this could help to change the face of the economy in the region

Jabalpur -In a potentially tectonic shift discovery, geologists have ascertained that substantial reserves of gold could be found at a sizeable depth of the earth in the district of Jabalpur located in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Its discovery came after years of exploration and sampling in the Mahangwa Kewalri area of the Sihora tehsil which was already known to be abundant in deposits of iron and manganese. As per interim survey results, the gold reserves are distributed over a likely area of 100 hectares, and possible estimates feel that the amount might be running into lakhs of tonnes. Once proved, this could render Jabalpur one of the richest mineral belts of India and can alter the future of the economical picture of this area drastically.

A startling discovery is due to a large scale geological survey by a department of geology and mineral resources team in the Regional Office. The team had conducted soil sample throughout Mahangwa Kewalri and tested positively not only having the presence of gold, but also copper and other precious metals by using the chemical tests. A top department official told Reuters of the evidence, saying, "This is a sure thing, Evidence has been presented through key tests of the chemicals, and it shows large amounts of gold, copper, and also other precious minerals. This may turn out to be one of the significant mineral discoveries in recent years in central India.

It is not the first time there has been an excitement in the region. Years earlier too, traces of gold had been detected Also in bordering Katni district. Although those signifiers did not have a firm confirmation at the moment, the new finding in Jabalpur is likely to prove the precedent speculations. Gold has recently been discovered both in Katni and Jabalpur and thus geological and mining professionals are showing interest in the region once again.

Jabalpur has traditionally been linked to iron ore and mineral exports and this can grow to a much larger stature now. The district already has 42 fully functional mines producing iron, manganese, laterite, limestone, and silica sand and this records has made it develop an image of enhancing the mineral economy of India. It exports a lot of its iron globally including in China. The situation in the region has changed this time with the presence of gold and there could be another round of industrial investment. What makes this even more feasible as a find said a state official, “is that some mining infrastructures already exist. Years have gone into the exploration of the area and working it. Operating on the confirmed gold resources will cost less in terms of investment as opposed to the beginning of operations.

A further stage has been the more intense exploratory work to define whether mining of the gold deposits is feasible as well as to establish to what extent it is evaluable. With the reserves being found to be economically viable, there is a chance of it leading to commercial extraction in near future further adding a new chapter to the legacy of mining in Madhya Pradesh. With the right planning, some authorities reckon, the find could deliver a major boost to jobs, state coffers, and even national gold reserves it is a country that has had little luck with mining exploration.
